A CLEANING genius has weighed in on how to remove hard-to-remove stains.
The laundry fan gave the tip to give your clothes a new life.
Editor Bigfrig asked the question to the social media platform.
“Help, can this be recovered?” they asked. “I dropped some mayonnaise on it.
“I love this sweatshirt and I stained it the first time I wore it (that’s why I can’t have pretty things).
“I rubbed the blue dawn into it before washing with warm water and that removed a good bit of the stain, but that’s what was left behind.
“I don’t know how to describe the texture of the fabric, but on the Lululemon website they say ‘matte finish with peach fuzz.’ Any tips are welcome.”
PRO TIP
Other Redditors gave their advice for removing the grease stain.
“First, don’t dry in the dryer until you’re sure the stain is gone,” one advised.
“And with grease stains, you may not be able to tell when the clothing is damp, so let it air dry.”
The Redditor also included the steps they would take for the mayonnaise mishap.
“Moisten it and use a damp bar of soap to grind the soap into the fabric, then rinse.
“Alternatively, I can rub grease cutter (Lestoil, Simple Green, Dawn) on the stain and rinse immediately.
“Fill a bucket with water and OxiClean and let the clothes soak for an hour.
“Spray with Shout or similar and wash.
“I put the stained clothes in a mesh bag so I don’t forget them and throw them in the laundry.”
The original poster said he tried the step-by-step laundry tip and it worked on the stain, even though it had already dried.
“I’m so happy,” the Redditor responded.
“Grease stains are the toughest and I only recently discovered how well OxiClean works on them.”
Oxiclean is available on Amazon for $7.99.
The product promises to combat difficult-to-set stains, giving clothes a new lease of life.
The product can also be used as a household cleaning agent.
