In the US state of Virginia, a man was accused of making death threats against Vice President Kamala Harris. He appeared in federal court this Monday (5) to provide clarification.
According to records, Frank Lucio Carillo made several threats against Kamala, American President Joe Biden and FBI Director Christopher Wray.
In response to a subpoena, the FBI found 4,359 posts by Carillo “targeting various public officials” in the United States, including the American vice president.
In several posts, Carillo allegedly threatened to cut out Kamala’s eyes and described several ways he wanted to kill the vice president, according to court records.
“I will cut out your eyes,” Carillo wrote. The suspect also used a series of expletives to refer to Kamala and said he hoped she would “suffer a slow, agonizing death.”
Similar posts are cited in court records, with graphic and detailed threats against the vice president, including an Islamophobic post in 2023 when he wrote that people should “come out with their guns and kill all Muslims.”
When FBI agents first arrived at Carillo’s home via social media posts, he asked if the agents were there “about the online stuff,” and admitted, “I posted it.”
Carrillo, appearing to speak to himself, also said, “I think I’m going to need a lawyer,” according to court documents.
Federal agents recovered two firearms from his home, including a pistol he purchased in 2023 and a rifle purchased this year.
A hearing to determine whether Carillo will remain in prison pending the resolution of the case was scheduled for Thursday (8).
A CNN is in contact with an attorney for Carillo for comment.
