GOOGLE Maps helps make getting directions to destinations much easier.
However, if a user tries to view a house or property, they may have no luck as some houses are blurred on the website.
Why are some houses blurred on Google Maps?
Google Maps offers a number of options to make traveling and navigation easier.
The application offers simplified routes to establishments, restaurants and other types of public goods.
Navigation is improved when the user selects the Look Around feature.
The option is offered in the bottom left corner and gives the user a real-time view of the surrounding area.
This selection also gives the user a more detailed look at residences, houses and private properties.
The closer view gives users a view of a person’s home, their driveway, surrounding homes, and more than when browsing the regular version.
However, not all houses can be viewed with this detail chart and some may even be blurred.
Blurred homes mean that the homeowner has taken extra steps to ensure their property is covered in enhanced detail via Google Maps, Look Around, or Google Earth.
This method effectively obstructs the user’s view and provides an extra measure of privacy.
How can I blur my house on Google Maps?
To blur your own home on Google Maps, you can do this:
- Opening Google Maps
- Find your home and address
- Select Street View or Look Around options for your home
- Focus your vision on your property
- Choose the Report a Problem feature in the bottom right corner of the screen
- When directed to the step that asks: Why are you reporting this image? – select the Request Blur tool
- Then choose the My Home option
- From that point on, you will be asked to provide additional information about the property
- When filling out this form, be sure to make privacy an important point
- Enter email, enter CAPTCHA and submit
After the privacy report, the process takes a few days to complete.
You will receive this immediate email message: “Thank you for reporting quality issues with a Street View image.
“We are constantly working to improve our images and are excited to share that every day we drive (and re-drive!) in more locations around the world.
“Due to the volume of these requests, we may not be able to contact you directly, but we appreciate your help in identifying this issue.”
