A letter from Princess Diana – which will be sold at auction later this year – has shown just how close Prince Harry and Prince William were as children.
In correspondence addressed to Violet “Collie” Collison – who was Diana’s parents’ head housekeeper at Park House on the Sandringham Estate – the princess speaks glowingly about her two children.
In the letter, written at Kensington Palace on September 25, 1984, Diana thanks “Collie” for the gift he gave her. torment.
“William adores his little brother and spends all his time showering Harry with an endless supply of hugs and kisses,” she wrote.
Collison followed Diana’s mother to London in 1967, after the princess’s parents divorced, and worked for her and her new husband until retiring in 1973.
She died at age 89 in 2013.
Mrs. Collison’s stash of handwritten letters and cards from the Princess of Wales should be sold at auction by Sworders in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, later this year.
Another letter from Mrs. Collison’s collection is dated July 8, 1981 – three weeks before Diana married the then Prince Charles.
In it, she wrote that “everyone here was frantically busy making last-minute decorations,” while “the bride-to-be remained quite calm.”

According to the Sworders website, 23 Diana cards and cards will be sold as part of the Out of the Box Sale on July 30th.
Sold individually, the cards are estimated to be worth between £200 and £1,200.
