FIRST Take star Ryan Clark has revealed a new role he will take on in a few weeks.
Clark will host the press conference between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, which will take place at the Javits Center in New York on August 18th.
The press conference is part of the inaugural Fanatics Fest NYC, a 3-day fan event featuring the largest collection of athletes, leagues, teams, collectibles and memorabilia.
The event will take place August 16-18 at the Javits Center with 3-day adult tickets starting at $152.58 with tax.
This comes after the announcement that ESPN’s First Take will host a special live show from the event.
Stephen A. Smith and host Molly Qerim will be back from vacation to host the show on Friday, August 16th.
The stellar duo will be joined by Chris “Mad Dog” Russo and NFL analyst Ryan Clark on set.
Special guests scheduled to appear were announced in advance.
Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero will make an appearance alongside comedian Drew Desbordes, better known as Druski.
Several athletes and stars will be present at the event, including Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Derek Jeter, Michael Strahan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jalen Brunson, Jay Z and Spike Lee, among others.
Meanwhile, the press conference between Tyson and Paul takes place after the fight is rescheduled.
The fight was postponed earlier this year after Iron Mike suffered a health scare.
Tyson fell ill while flying from Miami to Los Angeles due to an ulcer outbreak.
Afterwards, a member of his team insisted he was “doing very well”, but doctors deemed him unfit to fight.
Paul expressed sadness after it was announced that the fight would be postponed.
“Obviously devastating news, I’m heartbroken, speechless, devastated. [Tyson] I said you want to do it in the fourth quarter, I’m ready.
First look at the numbers
First Take has grown from strength to strength under the guidance of Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim over the past year.
ESPN’s weekday debate show averaged 496,000 viewers in 2023 — making it the most-watched year in the show’s history.
Its December average of 611,000 represented a 24% annual increase compared to 2022.
The show has also recorded more than 250 million views on YouTube.
First Take was helped by the addition of Shannon Sharpe alongside Smith and Qerim after he left Fox Sports’ Undisputed.
“You just need a little time, so I’ll be ready when you are.
“This is a very big opportunity and I think this fight will change the world and I turn all my Ls into Ws and that is a motto that I live by.
“We’ve been working really hard here at this camp.
“I feel bad for everyone involved in this event, the undercard. The opportunity was ripped away from all of us.”
It looks like Tyson will be ready next fall, as the fight has been rescheduled for November 15th.
Paul vs. Tyson will be streamed live globally on Netflix.
The fight will take place at the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
