SAMSUNG is planning to roll out its flagship AI features that enhance photos and more to cheaper Galaxy smartphones.
Galaxy AI launched earlier this year with a host of new tools, like the ability to manipulate snapshots, translate live calls, and even write you messages.
They were initially introduced for the Galaxy S24 line and were also included in the recent Z Flip 6 and Fold 6 with some additional improvements.
Samsung has committed to implementing the features wherever possible for older smartphones, but only for its premium products.
But the Samsung enthusiast website SamMobile claims that the South Korean tech giant is now planning to bring Galaxy AI to some of its mid-range devices for the first time.
It’s unclear which models might be eligible, but sources told the publication they will appear in the Galaxy A lineup.
The most recent are the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55, launched just a few months ago.
However, if the report is true, it’s unlikely that any of its budget phones will receive all of Samsung’s flagship AI features.
This is because many of the AI tools rely on larger internal processing systems to carry them out.
Since the Galaxy A series smartphones have a cheaper and less powerful chip, they will not be able to fulfill everything that Galaxy AI has to offer.

Until it’s officially announced by Samsung, we don’t have a clear idea of where the line can be drawn.
But we may not have to wait long as it is claimed that the updates will appear in the upcoming One UI 6.1.1 update, which is expected to appear on mid-range phones this month or next.
BATTLE FOR AI
In a recent interview with The Sun, Samsung’s UK boss seemed unfazed by the AI plans of its closest rival, Apple.
The iPhone maker unveiled Apple Intelligence in June after signing a deal with ChatGPT creator OpenAI.
“They can [Apple] compete with us, I would say?” James Kitto, Samsung’s head of mobile devices in the UK and Ireland, exclusively told The Sun.
“We build our own models, our own language models that run specifically on the device, but we’re also working with great partners like Google and we open the door to many others when they have the right kind of solutions that will deliver something tangible to the customer.
“I think what we’ve proven is that you can’t develop AI alone, and I think other players that will eventually come to market with AI have also discovered that this is actually a new open era that we’re in.
“We’ve always been in this, and I think others are finding that they’re going to have to start opening their doors to participate in such a fast-paced industry.”
